So now that I’ve left New Zealand after a whole year there, everyone seems to be asking me what’s next.
I had some amazing experiences in New Zealand. I’ve told you about how I went swimming without seals, kayaking in Milford Sound, how I became a birdwatcher on Ulva Island, and the yellow-eyed penguins I saw. You’ve heard about the time I ate bull’s penis and my favourite beach and how I completely freaked myself out in Waiuta. I’ve told you about working near Wanaka and house sitting on the Banks Peninsula and about a bunch of beautiful walks I did in New Zealand.
And while I still have plenty to share about New Zealand and will continue to do so, it’s time to tell you what’s up next in 2015 for Jenny Far Away!
Well. I’ll be spending two months here in Canada; the longest amount of time I’ve spent here since 2006! It’s mainly about visiting family and friends. I’ve only been here a few days and already I’ve been to my nephew’s fifth birthday party, visited my 99 year old Grandma, hung out with my sister on her birthday, taken her adorable doggie for a walk, fought off some cows to pick blackberries, taken a stroll by the river and even managed some time with my Mom and with my Dad.
I’ll be here for my birthday for the first time since 2004. I’ll be taking a weekend girls’ trip to Whistler for my sister’s bachelorette party and helping plan her bridal shower.
At the beginning of October I’m headed to Las Vegas for my little sister’s wedding! Very exciting! It’s going to be a great party!
And from there? I have three and a half months to spend and I haven’t had a chance to plan any of it yet. All I’ve got is that I’m flying to Mexico, to spend some time exploring the Yucatan Peninsula and surrounding area, and possibly a bit of Belize. Also, although it is not booked yet, it’s likely that I’ll be taking a side trip to Cuba for a few weeks, because I desperately want to see it before it changes too much.
And then near the end of January I’ll fly back to my homeland again, probably for a short visit this time because it’ll be January, and wet and cold and miserable here. But this one’s important: my Grandma will be having her 100th birthday and that is not something I’m willing to miss.
After that? I don’t know. I’m open to suggestions, ideas, and offers of house sitting or some kind of ‘fun’ paid employment! Or, if I absolutely have to, some ‘not fun’ paid employment. But we’ll see if I can avoid that.
So that’s what’s next in 2015 for Jenny Far Away! What do you think? I’m pretty excited about it! Thoughts, comments, suggestions, or job offers are all welcome!

I see. Sounds like fun.
I’m hoping so! 🙂
